Welcome to the grand finale for Term 1. It's been a cracker!

The climate has been not only enjoyable but also allowed for so many outside learning opportunities that were snapped up enthusiastically. Our big overarching concept being Change provides plenty of scope for Inquiry. This has ranged from the rocky shore to life cycles to colours to climate change to friendships to feelings to food states to........ you name it, it's almost possible!

Our dedication to embedding positive education principles has been relentless! This was touched on briefly at the Parent Workshops at the start of the year. You will certainly be hearing more about the why and the what and the how over the next 2 terms as the teachers learn more and develop programmes, with your input. Next term we will also be highlighting NZ's first anti bullying week 16-20 May as well, which has strong links to health/wellbeing/positive education .

Change has come in many forms. We had initial Goal Setting Meetings, Seesaw has been introduced as a way of strengthening the home/school chat and support, and our 'reporting cycle' has been altered to more accurately reflect timely assessment and making of OTJs against the National Standards. You can look forward to Teacher/Parent discussions around student progress from 13 June for a couple of weeks. At this time, you will also receive a written report. We will let you know when the school interview system is ready to go a month or so in.

Teachers have had the first week of professional learning with Sally Muir, have already started using some new techniques and are looking forward to ongoing learning with Sally next term. There's plenty of opportunity for you to get involved next term too. Following on from the early morning workshop idea of recent times, we will be having another in the near future, we have Matariki Celebrations to sort - this year it will involve a trip to Te Papa and some family design and make! Watch this space!

Then, of course, we also need your support to run the upcoming Disco, contribute in a multitude of ways to the Treasure Island Fair prep - now that's a biggy! We have upcoming Board elections, we have our big property plan in awaiting sign off from the Ministry of Education, we have new carpet being laid over the hols in the seniors, we have..... a fabulous percussion performance scheduled for the Assembly on 27 May. We have accomplished so much this term, let's not forget the soccer, the WBS sports teams, the Eastern Zones events, the camp......., the weekly sausage sizzles, the Ceilidh, the pizza lunch, farewells, welcomes, the stunning powhiri... and..... and......... and.....

And have so much to look forward to in the next wee while. Please take some time to just 'be' these holidays.
In the words of Maya Angelou, "This is a wonderful day. I've never seen this one before." I'm sure we can stretch the day into a longer break!

See you well rested and ready for another great term of learning, for all of us.
