I've been reflecting on the term now we only have a week to go until the holidays!
It's flashed by hasn't it. This first term has been jam packed full of opportunities to connect as a community, with staff/parents and staff/parents/children... and sometimes small hairy things on leads!
We immediately started with the Family Picnic down at the beach. The Mihi Whakatau to welcome new families into the whānau came along not much later, Goal setting meetings with teachers and your child, the Parent Positive Education Workshop, finally the weather shone on the Family Hikoi. We have had our twice weekly karakia (even got you all dancing one memorable morning!), Friday assemblies, weekly Rising 5s... they are all in full swing. The Stay and Play, ongoing Class Celebrations where you are invited to share the children's learning... School Camp was in the mix - it's never dull!
Next term we have a Parent Workshop on Literacy scheduled not long into the term. This one is junior based. Teachers will be starting to write your child's Term 2 progress report over the break. You can expect bookings to open a few weeks before these parent/teacher meetings are due to happen. There will be plenty of other action on the calendar so look out for the Friday newsletter for Worser Bay's 'What's Hot?!' We have a few other thoughts up our sleeve that are still in the floating stages.
Term 2 is also when you will be starting to hear a lot more about Fair Fun and what this entails for our community. We will also be organising a community working bee in order to give the gardens and playgrounds a bit of a pre-winter spruce up.
With Daylight Savings ending this weekend it does start to feel like the closing of something and a step change. I'm sure as Term 1 comes to a close next week we can deliver a step change in Term 2. Each term typically has a different flavour. Let's all contribute to creating a fresh recipe as we chug uphill to the end of Term 1 next week, recharge and then see what we are capable of in Term 2.
