If you were at karakia on Monday you will have heard Carl discuss with the bigger children the need to dial up a bit more prudence and judgement if playing with smaller children. The language of character strengths is well understood at our place and the focus on Positive Education has added a particular local flavour to our daily Worser Bay worlds.
Many parents whose children are well through secondary++ have credited this focus on supporting their children build their toolkit of wellbeing knowledge and strategies.
Every year the teachers prepare a Pos Ed Workshop for parents. If you have been before, come again as the focus is different each time. It won’t be a song on repeat.
There will be some takeaways - some food for thought and some you may like to try this at home ideas. We ideally also want to hear from you - what works for you… so a chance to have a chat and meet up with other parents as well.
This year on Wednesday 19 March at 6:30pm - 8pm - the following topics will be explored:
Rose and John are going to do a bit of an unpacking of the benefits of physical health, the link to nature and a link to contexts such as Moanamana and Enviroschools/ Sustainability - the bush and beach programmes within our learning.
Carl and Beth will be delving into brain science and the importance of us building a shared language for children. This workshop will also be touching on challenges and the associated feelings when things aren’t easy or straightforward as anticipated.
Suz, Annie and Hayley are taking a dive into riding the rollercoaster of emotions. Those big feelings … and how to investigate under the surface to discover what may be going on. They will give some insight into what we teach and why.
Come along - it’s a great way to keep building our shared knowledge and have a bit of a chinwag about these important building blocks.
