Kaua e rangiruatia te hāpai o te hoe; e kore tō tātou waka e ū ki uta

We have to keep rowing in unison or we won't reach the shore!

I like this whakatauki! In this time of uncertainty about our usually rather predictable events on the school annual calendar, I think this is appropriate.

Whilst the Fair is postponed to Sunday 3 April 2022, the annual ‘do’ at the Chocolate Fish is postponed, the Wrap is sadly cancelled, we do have some positive news. The Year 6 Dinner, Year 6 Parent Drinks and Poroaki/Speeches/Farewell - with some considerations - can still happen in Alert Level 2. Not all is lost!

At the last Board meeting, we looked at all of the events on the calendar and made clear cut decisions about whats and nots based on the current criteria for events in schools at this time. So, Year 6 parents, we look forward to having you join us on Thursday 9 December from 5.30pm to 7pm and the Poroaki/Speeches/Farewell on Thursday 16 December at 9.30am.

We have some ingenuity happening around fundraising in the meantime as well. On Tuesday 30 November and Wednesday 1 December, we will have some Plants and Deli items for sale. Thanks to the Fair Committee and helpers who are demonstrating great flexible thinking!

You will have seen that Progress Meetings are happening soon. You will receive your child’s written Progress Report via email prior to these wrap up parent/teacher chats. So, have a good look through and then spend the time seeking clarification and asking any questions you may have. This is an improvement from a couple of years prior when you hadn’t seen it beforehand, it was hot off the press and you weren’t in such a place of knowing.

We are constantly shining, shaving and creating for improvement. So, please give us feedback on how this Progress Meeting feels for you and any thoughts for us for the next round……

We need you rowing with us on our quest to give our Worser Bay kids a great primary education... we want to reach the shore!
