The Library! The Library! Yes, The Library is almost ready for us. OK, there may have been some order delays, there may have been some other delays on top of other delays. Just maybe and...... The end is nigh!

There is a bit to do yet but, after so long, to have a functioning Library will make a massive difference to Christine, our Friday Librarian, her Library Leaders…. all staff and children.

I’m going to think hard about ‘child-led’ commonly misspelt makeshift signs in such a beautiful clean lined space…. hmmmmmm! I’ll come to some arrangement with our Library Leaders, I believe! (Although our teachers know my ‘issues’ with unformed ‘Visual Literacy’ aka posters and the like!)

I’m sure I once had a teacher who led the way on that. I recall a title page in my social studies book I spent hours creating “Conversation in the Bush”

“Yes, that would be right” she said to me “It’s a simple copy off a blackboard but you are so busy having a conversation you didn’t of course realise it says Conservation in the Bush"!

Ah, the things we never forget. You will all have your memories!

Anyhow, I feel the need for a bit of conversation prepping pre-Library entry!

We have got beautiful pre-loved rimu shelving courtesy of an eagle-eyed parent which will set the scene for a nicely curated selection …….. plus, we are envisaging this space being utilised for all sorts of enrichment experiences.

Speaking of which - Art Club started this week. Energiser extraordinaire, Suz, is trialling Art Club on a Tuesday and Wednesday lunchtimes in the Art Room. With a fully functioning dedicated Art and Library space, we won’t know ourselves. The dulcet sounds of the drill will be a distant memory - before the Senior roofing project and then the Junior toilets kick off. Not to mention all of the new lighting, oiling, painting these coming holidays and, of course, there is the Creatives in Schools Pou project to add the cherry to the pile of action! Steph - is the key property player and does a mighty fine job juggling multiple hats.

Come to the School in Action Morning on Friday 16 June, 9.15am - 11.00am…… can’t guarantee the rimu will be full of literature by then but .... it………..may?

“Steph - stop hiding in the Medical Room! OK…. OK………. I’ll calm down - promise!”
