We have had a big warming week!

Relationship building opportunities galore - between children, staff, staff and children, staff and yourselves.... on it goes. I have just come up with the image of creating string art at primary school. The piece of wood, small nails carefully measured in 1cm gaps and a variety of textured string to choose from to go back and forth and across and come up with some creative masterpiece (at the time!)

Why the reference? I see the relationships that are made in primary schools as the pieces of string. As you layer the string, it becomes more interesting, lots of ideas, skills, passions and strengths, and creates more of a multidimensional 'safety net' surrounding a child. (As well as plenty of string art at primary, I also dabbled in a wide variety of beaded macrame works - it was the '70s, people!)

This week, as well as seeing many of you in and around, whether sausage sizzling, attending Goal Setting Meetings with your child, joining us on the Hikoi. What a stunning 'fresh' evening after the morning that was!  Thanks to all who came along to celebrate where we live, learn and play and the rich history that surrounds us. Big thanks to John for leading the way.

Maybe you were also being welcomed in the Mihi Whakatau or joined us in welcoming newer community members today..... this is such a beautiful occasion and, for some of us, it can really pull at the heartstrings. A special way to end a week.

It's certainly been all go!

Next week, we have a Whole School Stay and Play scheduled for after school on Friday 1 March, 3.00pm - 4.15pm. Please see more information below.

Hot on the heels, we would love you to come along to the Positive Education/Wellbeing Parent Workshop on Wednesday 13 March, 6.30pm.

(Adults only, please, and feel free to bring grandparents, etc, if they are keen to join us.)

Positive Education is in the 'foundations' of the school and you will see and hear and, hopefully, feel it when you spend time there. It's woven through our curriculum - stand alone and integrated, it's in our written reporting practices, school goals, you name it - maybe it's at the stage where it almost floats in the atmosphere?

Our teachers took time in the Christmas break to build a number of short workshops for you - based on the Science of Wellbeing and how this looks for your child in the classroom. These are always interesting, and parents have commented on the sessions being really worthwhile venturing out for.

This year, you will hear about the what, the why and the how.... followed by 3 areas of exploration with the teachers

Hey, and what is good for the children is good for all of us!
