25 November 2022

As I type, I'm finding it very difficult to believe this will be the '3rd to last' piece I'll be pondering for 2022. Like you all, I imagine, my calendar is looking a little extreme right now and the 'to do' list growing as if it's received a fierce dose of bio boost! It will be OK, it will be OK.

So, time to get inside the big events on the calendar for the remainder of the year and check you have a clear picture. For many of you, this will be your FIRST WORSER BAY WRAP!

As you know, we expected heavy thundery showers last Friday and, yes, it did rain (not much) but the Family Fun Picnic down at Miramar Park is now scheduled for Friday 2 December. Same place, same time and, this time, hopefully a different MetService message!

Hot on the heels, we have a Kapa Haka Assembly on Friday 9 December. This is where all children will be celebrating and sharing their Kapa Haka learning. Guaranteed to be lovely, and also the final Assembly for 2022.

Year 6 Dinner and Parent Drinks, Tuesday 13 December, 5.30pm - 7pm, and Year 6 Poroaki, Wednesday 14 December, 9.15am. The Year 6 Dinner and Parent Drinks is for Year 6s and parents/their other significant adults only. No siblings, thanks, as it's their 'special time'. The Year 6 Dinner happens down in a decked out Māhutonga and the parent piece usually outside/inside Tautoru, depending on the weather (tbd) - I will rely on MetService again!

The Poroaki is held in Tautoru and is for Year 6s, their whānau (including siblings) and any members of the community who would like to be there. This is where we formally farewell the Year 6s, their teacher, Jenny, and other parents and whānau travelling on.

The Worser Bay Wrap, Thursday 15 December, 5.30pm, is for the whole school. On a fine evening, families are seated in the courtyard, with a picnic and on a cushion. On a wet evening, it's a squeeze in Tautoru, also on the ground and on a cushion... unless a chair is required (Suz, if you are still on crutches - a chair, I promise!)

Each class does an item, we sing a few songs together, Mark Larsen (Presiding Member of the Board) and I say a few words and it's all good fun and a lovely way to finish the year.

In between all of this, we are finalising the beginning of the School year events so you can diary those nice and early - watch this space.

That's one less thing on the 'to do' list. Newsletter Week 6 - done.
