29 July 2022

We are at the end of Week 1 of the third term! It’s been wonderful seeing all of our children looking rested and the staff looking a few years younger! I was chatting to a few parents on the first day back. It really felt like this recent break came at the perfect time - we were very much ready for it. We are still in a fortunate position at this stage where we are able to fully staff each class. This is due to the mindset and flexibility of our teaching team, some creativity and good health at the present time.

Thank you for your support in helping our Years 4-6 come to school masked and ready for the day ahead. It’s made for a very smooth start.

We also have a reasonable number of our families overseas and on other adventures… AND we are looking forward to being able to get our community events up and running in this second half of the year.

This term is action packed. We are very pleased to be bringing back our fortnightly Assemblies starting on FRIDAY 5 AUGUST.

ASSEMBLY AND ZINE LAUNCH - PARENTS, PLEASE COME FRIDAY 5 AUGUST, 9.05am!

This Assembly is super exciting as it is also the launch of Te Wheke - our school's very first ‘Zine’. It looks brilliant and is jam packed full of our children’s work. A bigger copy will be coming out later in the year too. We would LOVE to see you at the Assembly and stay around after for a coffee/tea/snack - have a look at the Zine, be hosted by the editing committee of senior students, maybe even purchase the Zine ($10.00), and feel like school is returning a bit more of a ‘normal’, albeit a mainly masked normal.

FAMILY MUSIC JAM - BRING A PICNIC DINNER - RELAX and ENJOY - FRIDAY 12 AUGUST, 5.30pm!

Come and have some FAMILY FUN at the MUSIC JAM

We thought it was about time we had a community event!. We have had a few "yes we are in" from some of our past students who are keen to participate and have a bit of a sing and a play. Best laid plans at these times can go awry but that's the intent! John and some of the senior students, the school orchestra.....and whoever else is keen to join in - can!

There will be a range of percussion or found instruments on offer or if you want to just sit back on your picnic rug and chat and eat your BYO food/ drink then that's just mighty fine!'

We felt it would be a nice casual way to say "Kia ora" to the second half of the year and meet other Worser Bay whånau.

WHAT: WORSER BAY SCHOOL FAMILY PICNIC 'MUSIC JAM'

WHEN: FRIDAY 12 AUGUST, 5.30-7.30pm

WHERE: TAUTORU Classroom

BRING: A blanket to sit on, picnic food for yourselves, instrument if desired, mask to wear when not eating/drinking, warm clothes - as the rooms are well ventilated!

Hopefully the sun shines on Monday and we will see you in the courtyard first thing for Whole School Karakia. All parents welcome.
