Kia ora e te whānau
As I sit down to write this, I am conscious of this Newsletter being the first of the final 3 for the year that will soon disappear. Each year has a flavour and this one has been about balance, I think. With so many 'new' things coming at us, we have had to be steady in our approach to curriculum change and get clarity about the 'magic', the what makes us us and what success looks like for our children. That What does success look like? document has been so useful to hold onto in both hands and take a mental check that we are maintaining balance. I think we will continue to do well. I am full of grounded optimism, not the fantasy!
Looking at the list of to dos on the staffroom whiteboard, it's action packed in these days remaining. With full heads yourselves, no doubt, as we enter this countdown, we will be sending and resending and maybe even resending+ messages about what is on and who needs to be where when. It can be a juggle but we will endeavour to keep the juggle as calm as possible!
Many of these items on the calendar will also involve you.
This may be Progress Meetings with teachers, Film Night, Beach Weeks, class trips and drop ins....... .then, of course, Year 6 Events - Dinner and Parent Drinks, Poroaki and, to round it all off, THE WRAP.
THE WRAP, like the Fair, is an event! alright! Tuesday 17 December, 5.30pm - 7pm
People tend to arrive early and secure their spot in the courtyard, bring a BYO picnic, a cushion or two (poor weather choice = Tautoru/Art Room).
It's like a full on Assembly meets end of year technicolour. Children lead, each class provides an item, there are a couple of speeches, a community sing song and basically a great chance to get together, celebrate all the good and have some fun as we WRAP 2024.
