8 July 2022

We have arrived! It's been a bit of a long term for many in our community so I think we are well ready for a bit of breathing space and change of routine for a couple of weeks.

As I have alluded to, we feel it is well time to bring back community events in this second half of the year and build back up to where we were at the beginning of 2020! Worser Bay has long been known as being a real community school with a very positive and friendly atmosphere... so here we go!

Karakia for the whole school - every Monday and Friday in the courtyard just after 9am. We talk about the learning focus, sing waiata, awards on a Friday and it's a lovely way to connect us all together. Parents/caregivers/grandparents/aunties and uncles/friends/dogs on leads... all warmly welcome (if it's not bad weather and not on the first day of term).

Whole School Assembly - every second Friday in Tautoru just after 9am starting Friday 5 August. Watch the newsletter for any changes to this routine due to other things on. Another one for parents/caregivers/grandparents/aunties and uncles/friends - maybe leave the dogs :)

Autahi Families Stay and Play Thursday 4 August. Stay after school for an Autahi 'class playdate' and connect with other Autahi families and Rising 5 starters and their families.

Te Wheke (Zine) Launch Friday 5 August at/after the first assembly. Parents please linger in the staffroom, have a coffee/tea, bite to eat, chat and you can purchase your very own copy of the first ever Worser Bay School Children's Zine live (before they go on Kindo!). Bring $10 cash on the day for a copy. Come celebrate a great achievement! and be hosted by the student Zine committee.

Worser Bay School 'Music Jam' Family Picnic Evening. Friday 12 August 5.30-7.30pm. BYO family picnic/blanket to Tautoru. We bring our own style of WORSER BAY WOMAD with local artists - current students, alumni, and any interested parents willing to join in and have some fun with very low stakes! This was a huge success a couple of years ago - people just enjoying themselves - it's an informal, casual get together. Not a show as such! Please contact John in the seniors if you are keen to join the merriment and sing/play... bang a drum, anything! Email: johnmcdougall@worserbay.school.nz

School Disco - Thursday 1 September. The children's disco is back! Dust off your dancing shoes.

Worser Bay School Arts Celebration. The evenings of Tuesday 27 and Wednesday 28 of September here at school. This is where you wander through the school in a timed rotation and the children from each area share a bit of a music/dance and drama filled performance with us. This occurs annually. One year being more of a visual arts focus (odd years), the following more of a music, drama and/or dance focus (even years). All children are involved.

Worser Bay Parent Quiz Night - Ironhorse in Miramar. The evening of Thursday 30 September. Watch this space for details and ticket sales.

There will be more coming out to add to this list too!

Kia pai o koutou hararei whakatā - Have a great relaxing holiday everyone.
