Our staff have their cups full and are still managing to not spill a drop (-ish!) as we try and sort ourselves out with the curriculum changes and associated bits and pieces. Tuesday afternoons tend to be the evening for us exploring the new Maths and English Curriculum (it came into the Inbox in its final form on 31 October). You can see it here.
At the same time, I am thinking it may be likely that this upcoming round of progress reporting may be the last time it is provided in this written format. We haven't had the guidelines for reporting as yet - but I'm anticipating a possible tweak. If so - we will be getting our heads around and letting you know but, for now, it's the familiar. You will be asked to book in for your progress meetings from this week. Watch out for details in this Newsletter.
Amongst change some things remain seemingly constant and not so. One of my favourite quotes from Heraclitus, which I have been known to 'spout' regularly, goes something like, "You can never step in the same river twice as new waters keep flowing in." We have new children and whānau arriving and Year 6s and some of their whānau soon to be departing, we have staff coming and staff going, we have new carpet, lights and acoustic panels coming very soon to our classrooms, some new furniture too.
You may have heard - it's almost School Fair Day! What's the same is, it's the one day of the year when we all get to celebrate our place, get stuck in and take time to show great appreciation for the Fair team who have been working on bringing this together for months. New water has flowed in, new ideas, new energy, new faces....... and, hopefully, new friendships have been formed in the process.
Less than a week after the Fair, on Friday 22 November, 5pm - 6.30pm, the Board has a chance to thank you all for your contribution to our place during 2024. Apart from COVID and the café closure blip, we have been enjoying getting together at the Chocolate Fish on the Friday evening after the Fair. At this time, the Board provides nibbles for parents, and parents purchase their own drinks and drinks and food for children. On a lovely evening (fingers crossed), it is a fantastic way to connect and breathe before the crazy last few weeks of term arrive!
